Adaptive Architectures
Starting with the ancient Adalaj Stepwell and Tolo House by Alvaro Siza, key features were analyzed, unpacked, transformed, and rearranged to adapt to a preschool located outside of Rome, Italy. An interpretive model was created by examining features of threshold, repetition, choreography, increment and tempo. The model begins to have multiple readings when turned on its side and rotated, transforming lateral and diagonal movements into elevational descents.
