Of the body, for the body

(or Bone Stool)

Inspired by the geometry and the function of a pelvis, this stool was constructed from recycled maple flooring and molding. The modified lumber was subsequently assembled and sculpted by hand. Steel pins (synonymous with medical procedure) reinforce the legs to the seat of the stool. The moldings and flooring’s profiling adds gaps, holes, and voids suggesting de-mineralization and age. To continue this idea, the finished product is intentionally left unfinished, allowing natural aging and weathering to take place.
