Birdseye Maple Serving Board | Handmade | Fieldstone Studios
Description
Birdseye maple is one of the rarest figures in North American hardwood. The small swirling “eyes” that give it its name show up in only a small fraction of sugar maple trees, and no one has fully explained why they form. This board is cut to show that figure across its full surface, so the grain catches light and shifts as you move around the table.
The form is a softened rectangle with generous radiused corners and tapered edges. Sized for an evening’s spread of cheeses, charcuterie, fruit and crackers.
Handmade by Fieldstone Studios from solid Birdseye maple and finished with food-safe oil. Please note, because the figure is natural, no two boards are alike.
